 You host will be aware that it is likely that you may be tired after busy days at school and will want some “down time”.
It is quite acceptable to have a lie in / watch television or play Computer games – but please do not do this for the whole time that you are with your host.

ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS
Many British Families are keenly aware of their environmental footprint and will work hard to reduce their energy usage. Most households will work to recycle wherever possible. It is important that you respect this and follow the example set by the family, and adhere to their recycling system. It may be a good idea to purchase an eco-friendly bottle when you arrive in the UK rather than buying lots of plastic bottles of water. Water usage is also important
(both at school and during a stay with your host) showers should be no longer that 10 minutes as this is considered both environmentally and socially unacceptable. Remember to turn taps and lights off when you leave the bathroom / your bedroom. Most hosts will not have the heating on 24 hours a day so remember to take some warm clothes with you. You will be cold in a UK house in winter if you are only wearing shorts and a t shirt!

Remember you may have some school work to catch up on or need to practice a musical instrument – don’t leave it to the last minute!
