SOCIAL POLICIES
Staff members are not to engage in social activities that are not part of a YMCA program with campers of any age. Staff cannot be alone with campers or YMCA program participants outside YMCA programs or facilities (ex. no babysitting, taking children on trips, having them in staff homes, etc.) unless the child is related to the staff person by adoption, blood or marriage or resides in the employee’s household. Staff may not interact with campers via social media or phone/email outside of YMCA programs. All interactions between staff members, , members of the YMCA and any other non-staff must be professional and appropriate in public and on public social media channels. Staff cannot take/post photos or videos of campers to post on personal social media channels. Photos should only be taken at the request of the Camp Director and will only be used for YMCA purposes, after which photos of any campers/staff should be deleted from personal electronic devices.
COMMUNICATION
Parents, campers, staff and members can hear the walkie talkies. We must use radio etiquette ex. “Anne to ___”, “Go ahead”... all radio talk must be professional and to the point. Walkie talkies are also used for emergency communication. Please make sure you are charging your radio each night with it turned off in order to hold the charge completely. PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH THEM!
CLEANLINESS OF PROGRAM AREAS
All areas that campers visit must be left cleaner than when they arrived. General rule of thumb is
to stop the activity 10-15 minutes before the transition for clean-up. Safety and responsibility of areas is expected of each staff member and camper. If any supplies, furniture, equipment, etc. are damaged or broken it must be reported immediately to the Camp Director and taken out of use if deemed appropriate. Before entering an area, the staff member should assess for any safety hazards or equipment damages and report immediately.
