CAMP SAFETY PROCEDURES
RATIOS/MAX CAPACITIES/FACE COUNTS (+POOL)
Camp ratios are set to ensure the utmost safety of our camp participants.
Ratios for camp groups must adhere to ACA Guidelines. Camp groups are location specific and no staff member must ever find themselves alone with a camper.
Counselors must adhere to ratios at all times, but may use activity instructors/floaters/other unassigned counselors to assist with keeping ratios throughout the camp day.
FACE COUNTS
Face counts should happen once every 30 minutes. When you arrive at a rotation and when your group leaves that rotation. Face counts differ from head counts in that you must identify each child individually rather than just counting heads to reach a certain number.
Face count sheets will be located in your counselor binder or clipboard. When completing face counts, you must call children by name and insure the time at which you record the count.
If a child leaves your group for any reason, you must notate on your face count sheet that they left and who is responsible for them.
Face counts should serve as a story of your day, noting what time campers arrive in your care, any time they leave your group and return, and when they leave at the end of the day.
