FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
CUSTRUMQUI
Focussing on the requirements in a functional sense, rather than spatial
terms allows us to generate the most effective physical solution and the most
effective interrelationship between individual rooms and spaces.
SA PA DOLORE
For a residential project we have defined key spaces which can be
interchangeable and responsive to individual sites and lifestyles. At its core
are:
1. Having the ability to entertain outdoors
2. Connection from the interior to exterior as much as possible
3. Flexibility to adapt to a COVID future, work/school from home.
Private space - Studio/Office
• Combined studio/office space for singular use only,
this space will emphasise the elements of ‘retreat’
and be physically separated from the other spaces.
Semi Private space - Bedrooms, laundry, bathroom
• Bedroom, laundry, bathroom, these spaces will be
access controlled (doors). Accessible from private
space without needing to venture through ‘public
space’
Public space - Kitchen, dining, living
• Open and flowing space to be used and shared by
all inhabitants, in the form of living, dining and kitchen
areas. Acting as the ‘heart’ of the dwelling.
Slack space - Outdoor spaces, courtyards etc.
• Additional spaces to accommodate outdoor/rooftop
entertainment, courtyards, gardens, viewing platforms
and light wells. This space is integral in providing
indoor-outdoor connection and natural ventilation.
Individual slack spaces will respond to each of the
above defined spaces.
