Kimberley Barr - Associate Writer/Editor - Biography
Kimberley Barr is a professional writer, with experience in writing and editing from health, safety & environment, medical writing through to poetry.
Kimberley graduated from The University of Leeds with a Science degree with Honours in Biology. After graduating in 2016, she worked part time, simultaneously, as; a voluntary homeschool science tutor, youth project team leader and writer. Kimberley started to develop technical writing skills when she re-entered further education to study the Access to HE Diploma in Science in 2011; a course which she then rewrote; delivered and assessed in 2018/19.
By 2017 she made the decision to turn her passions into a business and began working freelance, her own personal project to evidence synchronicity with science for the first time. In 2018 she became a teacher apprentice with science as a specialism, working towards a Level 5 Certificate in Education and Training. It has been recommended by the university centre that she enrols on a level 6 PGCE course to begin in the academic year 2020/2021.
Whilst writing, delivering and assessing all biology course content within the access to HE diploma in Science, she kept writing, earning ‘Top Rated’ status ratings on Upwork. She has worked on a number of successful freelance projects including but not limited to:
◆ Providing feedback on ‘The Criminology of Wildlife Crime’ working alongside the client/student.
◆ Completed ghost revision of medical journals that are used to inform clinicians on best practice. Kimberley has been informed that her professionalism maintains her status as one of the best and is an consistently in- demand from clients
◆ Providing editing and feedback on three authors books, one of which resulted in a rehire for another similar project, another resulting in a request for rehire, and the third of which resulted in endorsement by a world renowned doctor for an ongoing piece of research based writing on domestic abuse prevention and recovery.
◆ Spinning blog article content 100% free from plagiarism on various topics with rapid turnover.
◆ Writing and rewriting product proposals, webinar scripts and other content for one client who began selling
medical devices to local stores, and EcoSense: environmentally friendly cleaning products.
◆ Currently Kimberley is committed to a long term project with HSE Learning UK Limited.
