David Bottomley - Instrument/Electrical Engineer - Biography
David has over 30 years’ experience as an instrument electrical engineer.
David started his career as an apprentice trained instrument/electrical technician in a large petrochemical work, moving in to contract work, culminating in several directorships of E&I and telemetry companies.
During this time, he developed both his technical and managerial skills, whilst undertaking numerous successful E&I projects including:
◆ Development of UKAS calibration systems and critical check schedules for pharma companies.
Design and specification of solvent handling scheme including the generation of; functional design
specifications, ATAX assessment and contribution to the HAZOP process.
◆ Design and commissioning of power station fire quench systems.
◆ Development of design risk assessments for machine PUWER remediation works.
Project management of plant construction electrical and instrument components, through design, installation and commissioning.
His industry experience for both design and engineering includes:
Manufacturing (Reckitt Benkiser, Recticel, American Celanese), Pharmaceutical (Nova Laboratories), Laboratory, (Thermo Electron, Thermo Fisher) and Utilities, (Severn Trent Water, Thames Water, Scottish and Southern Power).
David's achievements to date demonstrate his ability to work in different challenging environments, along with his knowledge and experience within E&I engineering:
David has demonstrated that he is a; self-motivated, hardworking, resourceful individual with good inter-personal and presentation skills.
Has extensive knowledge of calibration systems and procedures, process instrumentation and control systems in pharmaceutical, petrochemical and power industries.

Has extensive knowledge of; electrical systems, distribution, loading, inverters, motors and control equipment.
