Hot Water Services Pipework

Pipework shall be insulated with pre-formed rigid pipe sections having a density of not less than
100Kg/m3 with a factory applied Class ‘O’ bright reinforced aluminium foil laminate facing. All
longitudinal and butt joints shall be securely taped with 75mm wide idenden T303 Class ‘O’ soft
aluminium foil tape or similar and approved. The whole to be further retained in position by light
gauge aluminium bands at not less than 450mm centres.

Cold water Services Pipework

As described above, but where all exposed insulation edges at termination points, the edges are to
be over-taped and returned to the piping surface.

Furthermore, where insulation abuts pipes supports, insulation shall be taped to all supports to
maintain the integrity of the vapour barrier.

Valves and Flanges

All valves and flanges shall be insulated using oversized pipe sections of the same thickness and
finished as described above.

Pipework exposed to view but not subject to mechanical damage – in corridors or access routes
where pipework is over 2.8m above floor level, in roof voids below vanity washbasins in toilet
areas.

Pipework within the area stated above shall be insulated as previously described for ‘pipework
concealed from view’.

Pipework exposed to view in plant-rooms and pipework subject to mechanical damage – low level
in corridors or access routes where pipework is below 2.8m above floor level.

Hot Water Services Pipework

Pipework within the areas state above shall be insulated as previously described for ‘pipework
concealed from view’ but further finished and protected with 22 gauge stucco embossed
aluminium sheeting secured by means of aluminium banding and seals at not more than 450mm
centres.

Cold Water Services Pipework

Pipework within the areas stated above shall be insulated as previously described for ‘pipework
concealed from view’ but further finished and protected with 22 gauge stucco embossed
aluminium sheeting secured by means of aluminium banding and seals not more than 450mm
centres. Under no circumstances shall the factory supplied reinforced aluminium foil laminated
facing be damaged. Care shall be taken to protect the vapour barrier.

Valves and Flanges

All valves and flanges within the areas stated above shall be insulated with purpose made
removable 22 gauge stucco embossed aluminium boxes, lined with either mineral wool or glass
fibre industrial wired mat of the same thickness as the adjoining pipework insulation. The boxes
