               Where the above conditions do not apply, i.e. the storage is deemed ancillary to the use of

               the shop, the two areas need not be fire separated from one another. The schematic below
               can be used as a guide to determine whether a fire rated partition is required between the

               retail space and the back-of-house area in a given store.

                   1.4.20  Cavity Barriers


               Cavity barriers should be provided as set out below. Cavity barriers should provide a
               minimum of 30 minutes of fire resistance with 15 minutes insulation.
