CONCLUSION
DPG may consider it appropriate to develop a 4 tiered approach to new store
development depending on the legal, physical or time constraints on individual projects.
The current workflow offers a standard, no risk approach to DPG and Franchisees at a
fixed timescale similar to other retail operators.
Foreshortened scenarios 1, 2 and 3 offer time savings on the route to a new store
opening but bring associated risk with each.
Next steps:
1. Add other considerations into each of the workflows documented into this report so
their implications can be understood:
a. Utilities
b. Structural engineering works and potential party wall matters
c. Impacts from finding asbestos
d. Lease completion triggers
e. Information from third parties
2. Refine the scenarios into discrete workflows where advantages and risks are fully
understood.
3. Develop presentation material in order to communicate the changes to the wider
DPG and Franchise network.
