D2.5 External Seating
Where space permits and Local Authority
Approval can be sought, external seating can
both enhance the presence of the restaurant
on the high street and add additional seat
covers.
Seating should be provided by stackable
freestanding tables and chairs and designed
to the same accessibility standards as instore
seating. Seating areas can be edged or
demarked by the use of freestanding or fixed
fabric screens. Awnings can be used to extend
the usable periods of external seating areas plus
increase visibility. Screens and awnings must be
predominantly black in colour and must not
contribute to a proliferation of signage.
External seating should not be brought into use
without all relevant Local Authority Consent,
Licences and Landlord approval where
necessary.
