Brother of the Year
Chad J. Jones
Mr. Chad J. Jones is an experienced educator with
two decades of scholarship and service.
Currently employed by the Department of Education
of New York, he has held a plethora of positions
throughout his educational tenure. He served as
chairperson for the Education Committee,
coordinating programs, and oversaw the Mentoring
and Guidance services for a diverse student
population in New York City’s Public Elementary
Schools.
Chad is a service-oriented individual who truly enjoys
working with young people. His personal life and professional commitments have afforded him the
opportunity to give back to philanthropic projects and programs aimed at raising awareness and
furthering the cause of equity, diversity, and inclusion in educational spaces. Chad truly under-
stands that knowledge is like a garden… if it is not cultivated, it cannot be harvested.
Mr. Jones received his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Voorhees College in Denmark,
South Carolina. A Master of Education Degree (MEd) from Cambridge College in Massachusetts, a
Master’s of Science in Education in School Counseling from Alfred University, and a Master’s
Degree in School Administration from the College of Saint Rose. He was introduced to the
importance of education early in life by his parents and beloved grandmother. The late Virgie Lee
Hall instilled in him the importance of education and a caring heart, especially for persons who are
vulnerable or marginalized.
Chad is passionate about creating and sustaining community, which is why he formed a mentoring
program entitled, “Young Men Striving for Excellence.” As a relational leader, he has gained a solid
understanding of the challenges facing many people of color seeking better education opportunities
and he is a committed member of the community to which he belongs. As such, he is constantly
working to improve it.
Among Chad’s most treasured accomplishments and a tremendous source of pride is his
membership in Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. He is currently the Strategus,
Brotherhood Chairman, and Reclamation Chairman. They are positions he has proudly served the
past three years. He has also served on numerous committees within his chapter such as Guide
Right, Executive Board, and the Gala Committee. When the Stamford Alumni Chapter hosted the
79th Northeastern Province Council Chad served on the committee and worked diligently to ensure
its success.
Regardless of the particular role and with every call to serve Mr. Jones accepts his responsibilities
with valor, commitment and conviction. By definition, he is truly a servant leader, a champion of
many causes with an innate desire to do his small part to help others. He has generously given his
time, many talents, and love to live a life of service, as a man of God, a man of the family, a man of
his profession, and a man of Kappa.
Chad is the son of Thornwell and Brenda Jones and a dedicated father of two young boys, Chad,
Jr., and Noah. He is also the doting older brother to his favorite and his only sister, Miss Bre'anna
Jones.
