Thomas L. Smith Scholarship Recipient

Amir Best of Bridgeport, CT is a graduating Senior at the Bullard Havens Technical High School
located in Bridgeport, CT. Amir has earned a 3.1 GPA and a student in the culinary arts program
at his high school. Amir is acknowledged as a leader his career track. Amir is a 2-year member of
the Stamford Kappa League Program and was inducted into the Delta class in 2021.

In the Summer of 2021, Amir successfully and proudly completed coursework for the National
Kappa League Institute of Leadership. Amir is the first member of the Stamford Kappa League to
complete the program and receive his National leadership certification. He is one of 10 students
nationally to complete the program. Amir enjoys giving back to his community and those in need.
He has participated in community services initiatives across statewide.

Amir is described by his teachers and Kappa Mentors as an outgoing, confident and giving leader
who can rally his peers around positive causes.

Amir has been accepted to Albertus Magnus College, the University of New Haven, the University
of Connecticut, Xavier University of Louisiana and Southern University of LA. Amir will plan on
majoring in Business.
