 Then Came the Glory
and screaming and we began to pray.
The devil answered us and said, "I won't leave her. I've hidden within her all these years and caused her much
suffering; the power of Jesus name made me go, but now she has denied His name so I am here to stay."
We kept praying while our opponents watched. Then Jesus gave us victory and Satan had to leave. The people
watched the miracle in amazement.
They gave us fines on the fifth day. Twenty Birr for me and ten Birr each for the others and released us the same
evening. We were blessed and strengthened by our five days in jail. We went to Brother Dejene's house to continue our
night fellowship with joy. We baptized four souls that night and five received the Holy Ghost. From that day the Gospel
spread to many places and the number of souls saved increased every day.
We continued our ministry with faith, even though the pattern of being arrested and then released happened
repeatedly in different places. God strengthened the newly established churches with miracles, in spite of the
persecution that arose against them.
The believers found themselves rejected from the
Benevolent Associations and all social activity. They received no help nor consideration in case of accidents, and the people would not even allow their cattle to graze with the saints' cattle. Anyone who greeted them, comforted them in case of sickness or death, or lent them a match or fire received fines varying from 50 to 100 Birr.
Besides having no place to bury their dead, they suffered beatings while their enemies looted and burned their homes. Some were driven out from their families and wandered homeless for the sake of the Gospel, but God made
