1916: Lafayette wins the State Championship by defeating Crawfordsville  27-26 OT.  Lafayette   finishes w/ a
               record of 20-4.

                     1  Team All-State: Monte Grimes (Crawfordsville), Tilson & Campbell (Lafayette)
     1917: The Montmorenci Tigers, under the direction of Earl Martin, complete an undefeated regular season & finish
                w/ a record of 24-1.  Their lone loss will be to Lafayette Jeff in Sectional play.
                     State Finals Appearance: Lafayette Jeff, Wingate
     1918: State Finals Appearance: Montmorenci
     1919: Lafayette is defeated in the state title game by Bloomington 18-15.
                     State Finals Appearance: Crawfordsville, Lafayette Jeff, Wingate

                     1  Team All-State: Sinks & LeGally (Lafayette)

                     a.  Crawfordsville & Wingate are declared ineligible by the IHSAA on November 19 ,  1919.  Both
                         teams will play an independent schedule throughout the Midwest for the  remainder of the season.

     1920: Lafayette is defeated in the state title game by Franklin by a score of 31-13.

                     1  Team All-State: Clement Crowe (Lafayette)
                     a.  Don Shelton (Crawfordsville) finishes the season with a career total of 1005 points  to become
                              st
                         the 1  area player to score 1000 points in his career.  Shelton left Crawfordsville after this
                         season, his Junior season.








     1921: The Regional is added to the IHSAA State Tournament.  The Regional champion will advance   to the 16-team



                State Finals through 1935.

     1922: Clement Crowe (Lafayette Jeff) finished his career w/ 1048 points to set the career scoring  record for the
                Lafayette area.  He will attend Notre Dame to play basketball.
                     State Finals Appearance: Cutler, Frankfort

                     a.  Howard Hall (Frankfort) opens on November 3 , 1922 w/ a seating capacity of 3500.   Howard
                         Hall will be the largest high school gym in Indiana until 1924, when Martinsville opens a new
                         gym that had a seating capacity of 5200.
     December 1 , 1923: Wilbur Cummins (Frankfort) scores 49 points @ Owensville to set   the area’s single game

     1924: Frankfort finishes as State Runner-up, losing to Martinsville 36-30 in the state championship  game.

     1925: Frankfort wins the State Championship, defeating Kokomo 34-20.

                     1  Team All-State: Wilbur Cummins, Marvin Good, Doyal Plunkitt, Robert Spradling (Frankfort) &

                     a.  The West Point Cadets (Head Coach: Harold Horn) have the area’s 2  undefeated  regular
                         season. They will win a Sectional & Regional title, before being defeated in  the State Finals by

                         Kokomo.
                     b.  Wilbur Cummins (Frankfort) finishes his career w/ 1140 points, topping the area record set by
                         Clement Crowe in 1922.  Cummins will later play basketball at Purdue.
     September 1926: The North Central Conference begins inter-scholastic athletic competition.
