Tell us about your role and how you
support PSUK members?
In my role as the Senior Consultancy
Implementer, I am responsible for
coordinating all Golden Tote installations and
visits for our PSUK membership. I had the
privilege of being the first person to use and
trial Golden Tote back in April 2020, and I was
immediately impressed with its capabilities.
During the challenging times of the
COVID-19 pandemic, Golden Tote played a
crucial role in helping us process high volumes
of prescriptions efficiently and safely. I have
successfully introduced Golden Tote into
several PSUK member dispensing practices,
providing on-site support, and training to
ensure a smooth transition in their processes.
How would you describe the typical
dispensing process that PSUK
members currently follow in their
dispensaries?
In comparison to community pharmacy I
can see that dispensing surgeries have so
many areas they can improve on to drive
efficiencies. Currently many are still working
with paper prescriptions which results in
the GPs having to physically sign each
prescription, prior to the dispensary team
having to produce labels and count each item
for claim. The introduction of EPS will support
a more robust clinical check with the patient’s Tote demo van for a system-in-
full medical history being viable at the time of
GP authorisation. These improved efficiencies
follow through to the dispensary team
removing the need for typing in each item
and the cumbersome tasks of counting for
claim. Adding this alongside Golden Tote will
really transform the current process bringing
it in to the 21st century.
Can you share any specific examples
of improvements that Golden Tote
has brought to the dispensing
process for PSUK members?
Many dispensing practices across the country
are struggling with increased items and
resourcing challenges meaning solutions such

Golden Tote can help relieve the pressure on
dispensing staff ensuring they can focus on
other tasks.
Golden Tote has brought several notable
improvements to the dispensing process for
PSUK members. It has enhanced dispensary
efficiency, workload management, safety, and
reduced the need for extensive stock holding.
Feedback received from practices benefiting
from Golden Tote have stated they have seen
vast improvements in staff efficiency and
morale whilst being able to complete key
services such as DRUM reviews.
From your perspective, what
specific features or aspects of
Golden Tote make it a good fit for
improving dispensing practice?
Personally, the safety behind the scanning
technology just massively improves the
accuracy of the dispensing process. The error
rate drops as the scanning is such a safer way
to run the dispensary, a person is not able to
check as quick and as thorough as the Golden
Tote system does, so the patient safety is
improved alongside the time the dispensary
team will get back through the efficiencies
gained.
