Community Pharmacy England have announced that, due to mistakes in the calculation of the July 2024
Cat M pricing resulting in an overpayment, there will be a downward adjustment in the drug tariff of £9m
applied from August.
The Category M announcement in July indicated an additional £21m for the quarter was to be added to the
Drug Tariff – however due to the error in calculation, this should have been a decrease of £6m per quarter.
The subsequent downward adjustment is -£9m per month, an estimated impact of -£822 per contractor.
The additional re-imbursement received in Julys Drug Tariff will be taken back via further reductions
between October 2024 and March 2025.
Flixotide Alternatives
Unfortunately, as of 31st August 2024, GSK are removing Flixotide (Fluticasone) 125mcg and 250mcg
Evohalers from their scheme.
Flixotide 50mcg Evohaler will remain on the scheme and will continue to attract 12% MDS rebate for all
members signed up to the GSK MDS.
At the moment there are no other Fluticasone Multi-Dose Inhalers available for you to consider using, if you
deem it clinically appropriate. however there are a number of other Corticosteroid MDI’s you could possibly
use.
The table below highlights the product, pricing and profitability information for Clenil Modulite
(Beclometasone) which attracts 30% on the Chiesi scheme and also the 39% rebate that is available on
Soprobec (Beclometasone) through the Glenmark MDS.
