The Republic Day is a day of national
significance for India. On this day, the
country celebrates the date on which
sovereign India was declared as a
Republic. This very day, way back in
1950, the Constitution of India had
come into effect. The declaration of
India as a republic liberated it totally
from the rule of the British Raj.
On this day, the main Republic Day
Parade is conducted on the Rajpath
(also known as the Kartavya Path) at
the national capital, New Delhi. Many
ceremonies along with mesmerizing
and dazzling demonstrations by the
Army, Navy and Air Force take place
during the parade.
The Beating Retreat Ceremony usually
denotes the end of the Republic Day
festivities. It is celebrated three days after the
Republic Day i.e. on 29th January. This is
conducted by the bands of the three wings of
the military services – the Indian Air Force,
the Indian Navy and the Indian Army. It starts
from the gate of Rashtrapati Bhavan, the
official residence of the President of India.
Along with the various celebrations, Republic Day
reminds us to be true Indians at heart, promote national
harmony, nurture patriotic feelings, and spare no effort
to make India a strong and flourishing nation. I am Parijat Saha ,Grade IV B
proud to be an Indian. Jai Hind!
