Story: Thursday Evenings with Adhiyogi at George Mason University
At George Mason University, the buzz of student life often carried the usual weight— assignments, exams, and the pressure to perform. But for Sejal, Thursday evenings began to feel like sacred time. She had enrolled in Adhiyogi Authentic Yoga class seeking a simple break from her routine—but found much more.
"I enjoyed the course and how relaxed Yoga makes me feel," Sejal said, her voice soft but firm. "It helped me reduce stress."
Meanwhile, another student, Chrisee Rauch, had also found herself drawn to the class, initially just looking to fill a convenient time slot. But what she discovered was a deeply transformative experience—something far beyond routine.
“I enjoyed ending my Thursdays with a challenging yoga class,” Chrisee shared. “What struck me most was how Neel would begin each session by checking in with every student—asking if we had any questions or personal concerns. Then, like a master conductor, he would adapt the class to meet each of our unique needs.”
The sessions weren’t rushed. Every posture was held with care, and each student was encouraged to move at their own pace, finding personal meaning and benefit in the stillness. This intentional slowing down not only deepened their physical practice but also cultivated mental clarity. Chrisee added, “I especially liked that we would spend several minutes with each pose. That depth helped me truly understand what Yoga is—not just movement, but mindful presence.” Together, Sejal and Chrisee’s experiences paint a picture of what made Adhiyogi’s classes so beloved. Whether someone came in looking for stress relief or a deeper understanding of their own practice, they found a teacher who listened, adjusted, and guided with compassion. For many, like these two students, Thursday evenings became more than just a class—they became a sanctuary.
A Trio of Transformation: Eileen, Alaka, and Hakan at George Mason University
In the quiet corridors of George Mason University, a diverse group of students found themselves drawn to a class that would not only stretch their bodies but also their perspectives. Among them were Eileen, Alaka, and Hakan—each carrying a unique hope into Adhiyogi’s Authentic Yoga class.
Eileen, thoughtful and deeply reflective, approached the class with an open heart. Yoga was new to her, but Adhiyogi’s method—rich with philosophy and spiritual depth—left a lasting impression. “You gave me the first image of Yoga,” she later wrote in gratitude. “The philosophy, the spirit... I really enjoy doing it and wish to continue my yoga experience.” For Eileen, this was not just a physical practice—it was the beginning of a new way of being.
Alaka, on the other hand, appreciated the variety and depth of the class but longed for more structure in the sessions. “This class has been very interesting and enjoyable,” she shared. “I would prefer a little more structure and repetition of the same poses... overall beneficial, all- rounded formations.” Her input reflected a desire for balance—between spontaneity and system—which Adhiyogi often wove into his teachings with subtle precision.
Hakan, a student navigating physical discomfort, discovered something unexpected: healing. “I enjoyed the class,” he wrote simply, “Yoga even helped my neck treatment combined with my chiropractor adjustments.” For him, the synergy between ancient wisdom and modern therapy offered a new path to wellness.
