If you miss your appeal deadline the IRS will move forward with their intended action.  Sometimes this
        will mean you lose your right to appeal additional taxes the IRS has calculated you owe, even if you can

        prove they are wrong.

        It is vitally important you don’t ignore the letters you receive.  They may not make any sense to you,

        but the IRS will get very aggressive if you ignore them and may take action against you in some cases.
        Also, the law and the courts are on their side on this point: The taxpayer bears the responsibility of

        responding even if you did not understand the letters they sent you.

        I emphasize this because each notice or letter has a lot of valuable information, even if you don’t

        understand it.

        Responding to the letters you receive may help minimize additional penalties and interest and it will

        preserve your appeal rights if you disagree with the IRS.

        In summary, follow these two rules when it comes to letters you receive from the IRS:

            1.  Read and try to Respond (if you can)
            2.  Pay or Get Help
