                                    3. Displacement (Substitution) Titration


                         ❖ In this type, a very weak acid or base is displaced from its salt by

                                                     a strong acid or base.

             ❖ Typical examples include the titration of sodium carbonate or sodium borate (borax)

                                                      against standard HCl.



                                        Na CO  + 2 HCl → 2 NaCl + H O + CO

                        HCl (strong acid) displaces carbonic acid (very weak acid) in its salt
