About the Author
Ms. Kathleen O’Flynn currently serves as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the Northern
Valley Schools Consortium. The office is a shared service amongst the eight districts in Northern Valley.
Prior to this role, her experiences included being the Supervisor of Professional Learning for Northern
Valley, a Staff Developer, and a teacher of first and second grade. Kathleen resides in Hillsdale with her

Jon Regan serves as the principal of Demarest Middle School. Jon believes deeply in the ethic of care
and the on-going and sustained learning of all stakeholders within the schoolhouse doors. Beyond being
