Brand names: Alka-Seltzer, Aspro, Astrix

Side effects/precautions:

GI distress; gastric mucosal irritation; ulcer; occult blood loss; hypersensitivity reactions includes
bronchospasm, angioneurotic oedema

Interactions:
Alcohol; anticoagulants; hypoglycaemics; uricosurics; methotrexate; NSAIDs; antacids; frusemide

Reasons for interactions:

Anticoagulants should not be taken together with aspirin due to higher chances of bleeding and must
be under medical supervision if taking anticoagulants in conjunction with aspirin.
