Side effects/precautions:
Cardiovascular thrombotic events, Gastrointestinal effects, Anaphylactoid reactions, Serious skin
reactions, Hypertension, Renal effects, Fluid retention and oedema. Celecoxib is not approved for use
in patients under 18 years of age.
Interactions:
Antihypertensives. Aspirin. Cyclosporin. Fluconazole. Dextromethorphan and metoprolol. Lithium. Oral
anticoagulants. Glucocorticoids
Reasons for interactions:
Antihypertensives: including angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, angiotensin II
antagonists, diuretics and beta-blockers. Inhibition of prostaglandins may diminish the effect of
antihypertensives including ACE inhibitors, angiotensin II antagonists (also known as angiotensin
receptor blockers or ARBs), diuretics and beta-blockers.
