ACTIVE AND OUT FRONT
The Foundation takes an active role in supporting key safe driving issues. In New Jersey, DCH Auto Group Chairman Shau-wai Lam and
other DCH team members helped dedicate a speed limit sign with Bloomfield High School to honor the memory of a student tragically
killed in a car crash. Support for the new sign was provided by DCH’s BMW of Bloomfield, and the school’s SADD chapter. In New York,
Foundation President Susan Scarola worked with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and the New York State Governor’s
Traffic Safety Committee in an effort to raise awareness of the dangers of drowsy driving. Foundation Executive Director Roy Bavaro joins
forces in Washington, DC, with NHTSA, NOYS, government officials, and other corporate supporters each May to launch Global Youth Traf-
fic Safety Month.
DEALERS DRIVING ROAD SAFETY
With millions of car shoppers visiting dealerships each year, an ideal opportunity is
presented for the nation’s new-car and -truck dealers to help raise the awareness of road
safety issues with motorists of all ages. And a program sponsored by the National Auto-
mobile Dealers Association in conjunction with the DCH Auto Group Charitable Founda-
tion entitled “Dealers Driving Road Safety” attempts to do just that. The basic concept is
for dealer groups who already participate in safety programs to show their fellow dealers
how they can begin similar programs in their own communities. The program currently
focuses on three areas – child passenger safety, safe teen driving, and rural driving safety
– although it is not limited to those areas. To attract dealer interest in the program, the
NADA Charitable Foundation also gives a $500 matching grant to any dealer who holds a
highway safety event in their dealership.
DCH Auto Group Charitable Foundation
is a wonderful organization that works to
reduce the number of deaths and injuries
resulting from teen related auto crashes.
Here in Marlboro Township we are grate-
ful for their support of our SADD Chapter
at Marlboro High School. DCH doesn’t just
focus on the new driver; they also focus on
the important role that parents/caregivers
play in their child’s driving education.
