1.2.6 Embedded Computer
An embedded computer is a special-purpose computer that is built into a larger device to perform
specific tasks. Unlike general-purpose computers (like PCs or laptops), embedded computers are
designed to do only one or a few dedicated functions.
They are usually very small, inexpensive, and consume little power. Embedded computers do not look
like regular computers because they are hidden inside the devices they control.
Examples of embedded computers include the systems inside washing machines, microwave ovens,
cars, smartphones, smart TVs, medical devices, and industrial machines.
Because they are reliable and efficient, embedded computers are used everywhere in modern life,
often working without the user even realizing a computer is inside.
