a. Must be allocated a Buddy by the Tour Manager. Buddies must be aged 18 or
older and be considered suitable by the Tour Manager for the role.
b. Must be roomed with persons of the same gender
c. Must travel in the vehicle with the largest group of orchestra members
d. Are only permitted to leave the orchestra environment under the following
conditions:
i. Before leaving, they seek authorisation from the Tour Manager and tell them
when, where and with whom they are going and check in with them upon
their return.
ii. Any other conditions deemed appropriate by the Tour Manager.
e. Minors must return to and remain at orchestra accommodation at 10.30pm or as
soon as practicable following an orchestra activity, whichever is the later.
3.4 Parental waiver
The policy for minors will automatically apply unless a parental waiver is obtained.
4 Discipline
4.1 Depending on the nature and severity of transgressions, the tour manager may choose to:
a. Issue a warning to the member(s)
b. Require the member(s) to apologise or offer compensation
c. Suspend or expel the member(s) from the tour
4.2 Members that are suspended or expelled, or that refuse to cooperate with the
disciplinary process, may be sent home from a camp or tour at their own expense.
Health and Safety
AYO is a very active organisation. Rehearsals, concerts, camps, domestic and
international tours take place on a regular basis. Each member is responsible for their own health
and safety, however, AYO will take all reasonable steps to ensure that hazards are identified and
minimised or eliminated. It is the responsibility of players to let us know if there is any medical
condition that we ought to be aware of.
Concert Dress Codes
Males, Auckland Town Hall: black dinner suit, black bow tie, polished black leather shoes, black
leather belt and black calf-length socks. Plain white dress shirt.
Males, Tours: plain black dress shirt, AYO necktie or plain black necktie, black dress pants (no
jacket), rest per Auckland Town Hall.
Females, All concerts: full-length black dress, or full-length black skirt/dress pants and black
blouse. Dresses may be ¾-length as long as the dress is still at least ¾-length when the player is
seated – no bare leg may be exposed. Shoulders must be covered (no halter necks or spaghetti
straps). Arms can be uncovered. Black pantyhose or socks. Black dress shoes.
All players are expected to look elegant and glamorous.
