“hidden manna.” Manna is the bread of
heaven, and as it was the only food necessary
to nourish the multitudes of Israel during
their forty years’ journey, it became a fit
emblem of Christ, the bread sent down to the
world. Eating flesh sacrificed to idols brings
death, but hidden manna brings life. “Jesus
said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Moses gave you not that bread from heaven;
but My Father giveth you the true bread from
heaven. For the bread of God is He which
cometh down from heaven, and giveth life
unto the world.” A union of Church and State
crushes the spiritual life of any church. Why
