rather aggressive; supported by Pop on the sidelines. Besides hockey, she also played cricket in the early days when women had just become interested in cricket and started the team which eventually developed into the South African Australian Women’s Cricket Association. She also played tennis and she used to give me a thumping every Sunday after church. When we played a couple of times against opponents and I want to tell you they had little chance of winning, even though I hardly touched a ball.
Terry
Terry, my second eldest brother, initially started to work with Pop at C F Lawson and went on to become the Assistant Branch Manager at National Employers General. Like many of us, his daughter Kim Taylor works as Sales Analysis and Executive Assistant to the Executive General Manager at AIA in New Zealand.
Terry was something else when it came to cricket. He was a left- handed batsman and a delight to watch. The balls went everywhere through the slips, over their heads and he made many hundreds during his career. He could also bowl and keep
wicket and was an excellent fielder.
Dawn, Terry’s wife, has always provided support to Terry in his business and sporting endeavours. But unlike Terry, Dawn worked for a firm of chartered accountants.
It was very sad when Andrew, their eldest son and my Godson suffered a heart attack while
Andrew my Godson in December 87 at his graduation.
