CHAPTER 8 - THE INSURANCE AND SPORTING FAMILY
Peter, known as Peter Jnr
It is prudent at this stage to mention my son Peter Jnr who has been in the insurance and financial services industry in Australia for a number of years, holding senior appointments. Peter holds a Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Law and he also holds a Fellowship of the Australian Insurance Institute.
Peter is currently Group Managing Director of the Beacon Group in Melbourne. Peter’s wife Barbie was also in insurance, having worked for the RACV Insurance Company prior to their marriage.
Most of the Daly’s went to Marist Brothers Schools and Peter had the only accolade of being awarded an Honours Blazer having played cricket and rugby in the first teams, representing Transvaal under 19 rugby and the school at many debates. The achievement of Honours in studies entitled him to the Honours Blazer proudly presented by his mother.

Not to be outdone, my daughter Debbie also spent time in the insurance industry joining GRE Insurance Company in Melbourne, initially as an Executive Secretary. After a short time, she was seconded to Myer Department Store where she managed the GRE Insurance Program. During her time there, she met a young fellow who kept on popping into see her and of course this is her now husband Paul Shannon. It also caught me a little bit off
