[ In Memoriam ]




                        H. Stanley Johnson
                        1926 – 2024
                        Herbert Stanley (Stan) Johnson passed away
                        peacefully in his sleep on Friday, November
                        29, 2024, at the age of 98. Born in Low Fell,
                        Gateshead,  England,  Stan  immigrated  to  the
                        United States at the age of 9 with his sister Joan
                        and their parents, George Herbert and Edith
                        (Hutchinson) Johnson.
                        In high school, Stan was an active member
                        of the aeronautical club. After graduating, he
                        briefly worked as an office boy at a Manhattan
                        law firm. In 1944, he volunteered for the Royal
        Air Force and was sent to Canada for training, where he trained as a
        radio operator on a bomber. After the war, Stan worked as a Steward
        for Eastern Airlines and as a bank teller.
        When his family moved to Pleasantville, New  York, Stan took a
        position at Chas. H. Sells, a land surveying and engineering firm.
        He eventually became a licensed land surveyor. In 1978, he opened
        H. Stanley Johnson, Land Surveyors, in Mt. Kisco, New York, and
        successfully ran the firm with his two sons, Robert and Stephen, until
        his retirement to Cape Cod in 1994.
        It was in Pleasantville that Stan met the girl next door, Margaret
        (Peg) Finnerty, who would become his loving wife of 62 years. Peg
        predeceased Stan in 2011.
        Stan was an avid tennis player, nature and landscape photographer,
        and world traveler. His photographs were published in Vermont Life
        magazine and other publications. Some of his work even appeared on
        placemats at local diners and in jigsaw puzzles.
        After Peg’s passing, Stan met and married his second wife, Nancy
        Rust, who predeceased him in 2023.
        Stan is survived by his four children, Robert Johnson (Linda), Susan
        Naspo (Eugene), Stephen Johnson (Virginia), and Mary Blanchette
        (David). Nine grandchildren, Jason, Patrick, Colin, Alex, Timothy,
        Genevieve, Stephen, Sophie, and Ruby.  Two great grandchildren
        Emmett and Vera.
        A memorial gathering was held at Clark Associates Funeral Home,
        in Katonah, NY on Thursday, December 12, 2024. In lieu of flowers
