Meet Lynette Chantler
Lynette was born in Ballart on 22 October 1927
and has a sister, Jan who lives in a residence in
Turramurra. Lynn went to boarding school at Saint
Margaret’s School in Victoria. She says she was
very shy and didn’t enjoy boarding school much.
However, she was a good student and completed
her schooling as well as studying foreign
languages. She speaks German and French.
Her father was CEO of Caltex having successfully
worked his way to the top of the company.
Her first husband, Karl was German and the father
of their two daughters, Ricki and Mandy. She
married a second time to an English man, Kenneth
and they had a son Steve.
Lyn became a successful business woman by
buying rundown houses and renovating them,
using her flair and skill as an interior decorator.
She then sold them at a profit becoming very
successful in this pursuit.
Lyn loves travelling and did so extensively on her
own and with both her husbands. She adores
England, celebrating the correctness and
‘properness’ of the English people.
Lyn loves music, concerts and enjoys artwork. She
was an artist herself.
Lyn has taken up residence at Lansdowne Gardens
after having a few mobility problems. She is a very
social, warm person and likes to engage in
conversation and help to cheer others up.
Her suite is a testament to her gift of decorating
and in her words, “If you bring a bit of yourself
wherever you go, you will never be alone.”
