McALISTER COLEMAN
was born in New York City. He received Masters
Degrees in Sculpture and Fine Arts Education from
Columbia University. He is now retired from a
long career as an art and design teacher at
Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts, as well
as a professional sculptor, welder and stone
carver.

Mac lives in Manchester-by-the-Sea with his wife
Peggy, the Director of the Russian American
Cultural at Russia Wharf, Inc. in Boston.

Mac’s guiding idea is that a piece of sculpture is
first a piece of sculpture, and then it might
represent something. First and foremost it must
be felt as presence that exists as a three
dimensional form in space.
