Í K 6 3
called 6, North called 9 points and you showed Ì 9 5 4
8. Ë Q 8 7 5 3

partner led the ÌQ. What do you play to tricks East - You
Í J 8 2

Ì A 6
Ë 9 6 2
Answer Ê Q J 8 6 4
Partner has the Q, J, 10 and some more
hearts. He has called 6 points we must hope that he has the ËK to get in
with. If we do not play the ÌA and another heart the suit will be blocked
and he will be unable the make his long hearts.
Notice that, if we do not play the Ace and another hearts is led you
will be on lead and there will be no way to get partner the lead.
Hand 2.
South called 19 points, partner, West, North - dummy
called 4, dummy called 9 and you called 8. Í K 7 4
Declarer went game in notrump and partner Ì 9 8
led ÌJ. Ë Q 9 6 5 2
Ê A 4 3

hearts is? What do you play to tricks 1 and 2? Í J 9 5
Answer Ì A 7 2
Partner must have the Ì10 but he has not Ë 8 4
got the 9 or 8. Therefore, he has led from K J Ê Q J 8 6 2
10 and one or 2 little cards. We win the Ace
and return the Ì7.
Note that from J 10 6 4 2 he would lead the 4. This is fourth highest as
there is no sequence.
