NATIONAL AUTO MUSEUM

Classic Chrome, And Plenty of Car
Cool

Reno’s National Auto Museum regularly receives high
praise from national industry experts and local
visitors alike. We’re truly lucky to have one of
America’s “five greatest automobile museums,” as

noted by AutoWeek magazine in 2012.

The museum got its start when Reno collector and
gaming entrepreneur Bill Harrah, founder of Harrah’s
Casinos, passed away in 1978, leaving behind a
collection of about 1,400 vehicles. Several hundred of
the cars from this impressively curated collection
eventually became the initial exhibits of the National
Auto Museum, which first opened its doors in 1989.
Today, the National Auto Museum has a number of
permanent collections on display, as well as rotating
exhibits. The Museum is devoted to preserving the
legacy of Bill Harrah through the celebration of the
automobile throughout every stage of its history.
Visitors will find exhibits on automobile racing, early
automobiles, and even representations of cars in fine
works of art.

The museum is open seven days a week and
features daily guided tours to guide visitors through
the hundreds of cars on display for your enjoyment.
Many visitors enjoy dressing up in period garb to take
photos with their favorite old time automobile.
Whether you decide to don a derby or not, the
costumed crowd definitely adds to the appeal of this
already stellar museum. A great way to learn about
the history of one of America’s oldest love affairs, the
National Auto Museum is a true gem of Reno.
Perfect for family outings, school field trips, or the
vintage connoisseur who just wants a picture with a
totally unique copper Rolls Royce, this museum has
proven to be a crowd pleaser and one of many
reasons that we love Reno! To learn more, visit the
