RENO BALLOON RACES
Eyes to the Sky for Spectacular
Family Fun!
The Great Reno Balloon Race is the largest hot
air balloon event that is totally free to the viewing
public, making this a great option for young
families on a budget. The three day event is held
every September at the break of dawn, making it
a memorable departure from your typical daytime
adventure! The sight of hundreds of beautiful hot
air balloons dotting the beautiful Reno sky at
sunrise is truly an unforgettable experience, and
one you simply have to see live and in person.
What started in the early 1980s as a small race of
just 20 hot air balloons has turned into an epic
event that draws adoring local crowds and
visitors from all over the world. The event is held
at Rancho San Rafael Park, which is
conveniently located less than 2 miles north of
downtown Reno. Each morning, the Great Reno
Balloon Race kicks off with a pre-dawn “Glow
Show” around 5:00am. The fun continues
throughout the morning, with fun morning themed
events to keep participants awake and alert,
including pajama parties and a “bed head”
contest.
The real thrill of course, is the more than 100
beautiful balloons you and your family will get to
see launching into the gorgeous Nevada sky.
For more information on attending the free,
family-friendly Great Reno Balloon Race, visit the
official website at www.renoballoon.com. Visually
dynamic, peaceful, and like no other event in the
world, the Great Reno Balloon Race is just one
of many reasons that we love Reno!
