Student Arrival and Orientation

       Arrival

       If travelling unaccompanied, or arriving in Australia for the first time, students should be aware of
       Australian immigration processes as outlined at:
       o  https://www.abf.gov.au/entering-and-leaving-australia/crossing-the-border

       o  https://www.abf.gov.au/entering-and-leaving-australia/smartgates/overview
       Saint Stephen’s College will arrange airport pick up for the student After clearing customs, the student
       should look for a sign with their name on it.  Airport confirmation will be sent to students.  Students
       should carry with them their homestay family contact information along with the airport transfer pick-
       up contact details.  The airport pick-up driver will transfer the student directly to their homestay and
       introduce them to the homestay family.

       Orientation

       Saint Stephen’s College will provide an orientation for students on arrival. This includes information
       about:

       o  Emergency contact numbers
       o  Information about how to report / seek assistance for actual or alleged sexual, physical or other
           abuse, or an incident that significantly impacts on the student’s wellbeing
       o  Information on personal safety and security

       o  Information on how to access information on employment rights and conditions and how to
           resolve workplace issues (e.g., FWO services)
       o  Support services available to the student
       o  Legal services if needed
       o  Emergency and health services
       o  School facilities and resources
       o  Complaints and Appeals processes

       o  Visa conditions relating to course progress, attendance and duration
           (The above are requirements under the National Code. Include other information as applicable.)
       o  Overseas Student Health Cover
       o  Key members of staff
       o  Extra- curricular activities
       o  School timetable and routines
       o  Information about accommodation and the requirement to stay in school approved
           accommodation arrangements

       The homestay family will arrange for or assist the student to do the following after the student’s
       arrival, as necessary:
       o  Contact parents to confirm safe arrival

       o  Open a bank account, Connect to a mobile ‘phone service
       o  Understand how to use public transport (depending on age)
