The Wakefield Middle School team created a trans-
formation within a tight budget and in an even
tighter timeframe. Wakefield has been convert-
ed from a dormant site into a campus that offers
innovative teaching modalities, creative use of
technology, and helps the Tucson Unified School
District mitigate inequities throughout its district.
Through the implementation of flexible furniture
and technology and open, configurable spaces,
Wakefield has revitalized interest in one of the dis-
trict’s more underserved neighborhoods. In this
session, learn some of the tricks that your school
district could use if you are considering to repur-
pose existing facilities for an alternative purpose.
