        didn’t want to take the risk.

        One thing noteworthy to mention in our afternoon
        Walker Bay Landing is the sighting of lichens growing on
        the rocks and on a rocky hill which was free of snow;
        and the low growing, but sparse grasses, about two
        centimeters,  between  the rocks.  It’s  the  first  sign  of
        summer that I saw. They will be gone when winter comes.
        The islands do not have a lot of penguin colonies, but
        they have more polar animals like elephant seals which
        wera lazily lying on the beach, basking in the sunshine
        when we got there. One huge seal got in the water and
        i was in awe to watch his swimming prowess. It also
