with Chico Fernandez
When I was editing Saltwater Fly Fishing magazine in the mid-1990s and
early 2000s, I became friends with columnist Chico Fernandez, who was
based in Miami. Chico was a hero of mine, and I got to know him as a
friendly, insightful person. He helped us out at the magazine by teaching
fly-casting at the Miami Boat Show, and I enjoyed being his guest on
nights out in Miami Beach. Here, he shares some advice on making
leaders and the knots to use to make connections. He makes
connections—in life and in fly fishing—easily and expertly. Very cool.
