down while holding her blue leatherjacket tight around her body. They rush to

get off the bus, as they are the last passengers left.
Ann's thoughts solely revolve around the cat. It’s her first pet, and she is looking

forward to being alone with it when mom has to go to work. Later, she’s thinking

about training it, trying to make it do stuff.
"Mama, what do you say, does a cats bring good luck or bad luck?"

They both walk with their heads bent to protect their faces from the pouring

                   rain.
Kokkedal is a strange and quiet town; there are almost no stores here, just two

discount supermarkets hermetically closed in the evening, covered with steel
plates on all entrances as well as the windows. They are trying to protect

themselves against neighbourhood vandalism. Ann has the cat tugged tightly into

her body to make sure it’s not freezing.
"I really don't remember," Lissi tiredly replies. "The only thing I know, is that

we have to look after it when we get home, and that we have to get through the

rain very quickly. Animals usually hate being wet."
From the bus stop, they walk a short distance along a small two-lane

thoroughfare, which ends in another roundabout. As they are about halfway
down the road, they turn down a path system. Along the path system runs a

small, polluted creek where residents often throw down stolen bicycles in along

other trash as well. The path they follow ends abruptly in a large parking lot. The
parking lot is located so that it is on the back of the housing complex they live in.

85 percent of the residents derives either from the Middle East or Africa. The

building complex is on the Danish government's famous ghetto list.
Lissi was born in the flat that they inherited, after her grandmother was moved

to a nursing home; that’s almost a year ago now.

They’re almost jogging through the rain, running but with light steps; Lissi
because of her bad shape and Ann because of the cat. The finally arrive at the

parking lot, from where they can see the windows to their flat on the fourth floor.

Besides six totally burned-out cars parked in the square, it’s empty. Lissi's
                   former boyfriend Kell always said:

"If your car gets stolen one day, you can definitely find it in the Woodland
Ghetto." The Woodland Ghetto is a ghetto nearby and it bears no resembles to
