"I have to meet someone now," she says, and immediately starts to walk away

from the candy booth and towards the stage. “And my mother is coming soon.
                   See you."

Abdel looks disappointed at her, almost as if he’s been rejected.

"Oh, it's the cutest cat. What is the name? ”
Bedrana and Nadeem are standing very close to her, almost as if they were glued.

They’re taking turns to gently fondle the kitten; it is crawling further inside her

hoodie for protection. They are both dressed in the national Kurdish dress,
because it is a Kurdish banquet day.

"I’ll get some soda and snacks for us," says Bedrana. “We have a lot of it; my
parents are sitting over there, at the table. " The air is thick with spices from the

many different dishes, which have been cooked for the celebration. Outside in

front of the tent is a long grill with meat and seafood, and inside there are pots
boiling and bubbling with delicious soups, as well as gravy and rice. There are

stalls selling everything from used clothing to jewellery - real and fake. And a

single guy who has a booth where he is advertising his new small car repair
                   shop.

"Everything is ours here, just eat."
They all stand and watch the party unfold; the many light chains being put up,

giving off strange, almost supernatural light, radiating as if they were from

another planet, Ann thinks. She’s pondering; the guys who are at the party now
are usually in gangs and seems kind of threatening, somebody that people tend

to avoid. But now they just seem like ordinary boys, listening to music, talking,

                   eating and drinking soda.
Ann suddenly feels tired after eating a couple of meaty sausages that she had to

say yes to, even though she was already full from dinner with Lissi. She actually

doesn’t want to see too many people today; she just wants to be alone with her
cat. She decides to move, going back to her flat. She has shown Bedrana and

Nadeem the cat, and that was the most important thing.

"Can you get more cats?" asks Nadeem, just before Ann is about to leave.
"Maybe. I think he had more for sale, the guy we bought from."

Ann tells them about Jano, and about his messy flat, about his scarred face, of
which she was initially very scared, but who, after talking for a while, she began
