our family. There is still time, child. I can still be saved. There’s one more soul to

                   save besides me.
His name was Johan, but now he has a different name."

She pauses in her slightly messy flow of speech, as if something is bothering her,

and looks sadly empty before her before continuing:
“Johan is associated with the impostor Walther. You know him, you were even

married to him once, a long time ago, but you've probably forgotten that now."

Ann is now unable to control herself any longer. All the incomprehensible talk -
                   she wants them to disappear.

“I'm a kid after all. How can I have married this … Walther?" She spits out.
"You were in a past life before the illness got you," the woman says, looking at

                   her intensely.

Ann begins to sweat profusely, both out of rage and fear; who is this woman.
"Listen," the woman continues. "Walther, your husband made a covenant

behind your back. He did it to protect you, but it was an evil pact he made. You

knew something was wrong, because he was changing.
He became extremely rich and arrogant, and so your love for him died. Nor did

it matter that he still loved you, you couldn’t be with what he’d become. You no
longer shared anything but the food on the table and your bed. The fine

education you have, which Walther previously had been so proud of, and even

benefited from, was now of no use. He didn't want you to join the business any
longer, and you didn't have to keep an account or keep track of the people; now

everything was secret. When Walther eventually denied that your son, Dieter,

getting his dream education, but instead should follow in his footsteps to become
a farmer, you fell ill, and no matter how much Dieter and Walther prayed to God

for you to get well again, you eventually died of sorrow. "

The woman looks at her with her sad look in her bright green eyes, with her
almost luminous green eyes, which now seem as if they are not really present,

just as her whole figure also seems transparent.

"What kind of covenant was Walther making since everything was supposed to
                   be secret?" asks Ann.

"Walther got a mandrake and made the covenant; my beloved grandfather was
the one who swore the oath that Walther was to follow."
