Over the years, since her son assumed her husband's role as the top executive at
"Energistak Corporation," (a name she had helped create), she had heard numerous
accounts of Jonathan's unethical exploitation of cheap labor at oil refineries partnered with
their family business, both in Qatar and globally. The press had also suggested wage fraud

on ships managed through leasing contracts. Marianna firmly distanced herself from these
practices, which starkly contrasted with her ideals of good business ethics and righteous
behavior. She believed her husband Gunnar, Jonathan's father, would have opposed any
form of exploitation. In the past, she had firmly addressed these issues with Jonathan
during his youth, but she had since largely abandoned such discussions, as her son
consistently denied any wrongdoing, insisting that.

               “Nothing is wrong “

Marianna knew that instead of being directly involved, he used deputy directors to do the
dirty work, and the deputy directors used subcontractors to pass the responsibility onto.

Samantha was completely frozen during Marianna's outburst of anger. She couldn't
suppress a sigh of relief that escaped her mouth when Marianna finally sat down again,
and it was over. Normally, she always sided with Marianna, and at the slightest hint of
disagreement, she always took Marianna's side. It was highly unusual, but from day one,
the two women had a special bond. Both Jonathan and the children thought it was okay.
They quietly understood and accepted that Samantha didn't really have a mother like they

did. So in that way, they shared a kind of fate. Marianna thus became a sort of surrogate
mother to her and a very close mother-in-law. If there was one person Samantha looked up
to and admired, it was Marianna.

Jonathan's mom had once been an exquisite beauty, and from her teenage years, she was
offered roles in films and commercials, an opportunity neither she nor her parents had
been interested in. Even now, she was still breathtakingly beautiful, often mentioned in the
tabloids when she was seen or photographed in public. She was born into an aristocratic
noble family and was always dressed classically in either suits or blouses made of

expensive materials, often clothes from Chanel or Prada, which were her absolute favorite
brands. In the midst of Marianna's outburst, the household's little terrier dashed into the
living room, barking. Unaccustomed to Grandma raising her voice, the dog trembled,
whimpered, and barked in confusion, jumping up and down her legs. Marianna's anger
dissipated instantly upon seeing the dog's distress; she adored dogs. With a conciliatory
smile, she addressed Samantha while lifting little Penny onto her lap.

"You see, as soon as there's the slightest commotion, it comes running like a little baby,"
she remarked. Jonathan stood with a crooked smile, then solemnly raised his glass and

               addressed the table:
