Busan Presbyterian University began in October 1953 under the name of
‘Busan Seminary; a branch school of Daehan Theological Seminary of
Presbyterian Church in Korea (Daeshin) ’. Five people, Noh Jin-hyun, Lee Soo-
pil, Koo Young-ki, Jang Seung-hwan, and Kim Cheon-gyu, were in charge
of practical affairs, and Pastor Lee Soon-kyung was appointed as the first
chairman, and Pastor Noh Jin-hyun was appointed as the first president.
At that time, there was no school building yet, so Joongang Church,
Bukseong Church, and Kwangbok Church were designated as temporary
school and the classes were given there. In 1956, the school changed its
name to ‘Busan Seminary of the Presbyterian Church in Korea’ in order
to develop it into a seminary of the Presbyterian Church in Korea. Busan
Presbyterian University started construction and moved to its current
 Kosin University Gospel Hospital
                  location in 1999 after completion.
