            In the spring of 1893, Bishop C. J. Corfe established a base in Gapgot on Ganghwa Island,
            and the Anglican Church was introduced to Korea in September 1890. In the same year,
            Father L. O. Warner was sent to begin the reinforcement mission in earnest. Ganghwa
            Anglican Cathedral was designed by Bishop Trollope and was built under the supervision of
            him in 1900. It was constructed by a royal carpenter who participated in the construction

            of Gyeongbokgung Palace, and the red pine trees from Mountain Baekdu, tiles and stones                                                          Anglican
            from Ganghwa Island were used.                                                                                                                  Church
            A Chinese stonemason was in charge of stone construction, including the communion
            table, baptistery, and embankment. It was built on November 15, 1900 as St. Peter’s and    “Onsu Anglican Church is a Korean-style Anglican church built in 1906.”
            St. Paul’s Cathedral and renovated in 1914, 1936, 1949, and 1984. The location of the
            cathedral is a place where you can see the downtown of Ganghwa-eup at a glance, and
            it is also a place where the castle was built to protest against Mongolian troops when
            they invaded. The interior of the cathedral is composed of the entrance, the seat of the
            congregation, the sanctuary, the communion table, and the dressing room and there is also
            a holy water table. It was designated as National Historic Site No. 424 on January 4, 2001.                                     Exterior and Interior of Onsu Anglican

                                                                                                   Onsu Anglican Church (Cultural Property Material No. 15)  is located in Gilsang-myeon, Ganghwa-
                                                                                                   gun, Gyeonggi-do and was built in 1906 by British Bishop Mark N. Trollope. It is an
                                                                                                   auditorium building in combination of the Eastern and the Western style. It is a church
                                                          “the first Hanok-style
                                                                                                   building with 3 spaces in the front and 9 spaces in the side, and crosses are decorated at
                                                           cathedral in Korea”
                                                                                                   both ridges of the roof telling that is a church.
                                                                                                   Onsu Anglican Church is located in a hilly area that is slightly off the center of the market,
                                                                                                   and it looks like our government office or part of the palace, which is clean and modest
                                                                                                   enough to overshadow history of 100 years. The height of the building is not very high, and
                                                                                                   the entrance next to the main gate is always open. The building was restored to its original
                                                        Ganghwa-eup Cathedral                      form while building a new cathedral. When you enter, there is a closed sliding.
                                                                                                   If you open it carefully, you can see the inside of the worship room at a glance. The
                                                                                                   building is largely divided into three parts to the left and right, and the front is used for
                                                                                                   holding the service, but further inside, it is divided into a space for preparing for the service
                                                                                                   and the door is closed. The interior is not very wide, but there are two square pillars in
                                                                                                   the middle, dispersing the weight of the roof. Until recently, the wall of the gate had been
                                                                                                   made of the plastered walls, but now all of them have been torn down and fixed with the
                                                                                                   original bars. There is no door at the entrance for a bright view and warehouses are made
                                                                                                   on both sides so that they can be used. Ganghwa Onsu Anglican Priest Hall was designated
