than politics, and taught enlightenment and patriotism at Heunghwa School established by Cheongok Church
Min Yeong-hwan. He joined the Independence Association and participated in the reform
movement, but when the Independence Association Movement failed, Namgoong-Eok
jumped into the media. Nam Gung-eok, who took office as president of the Hwangseong
Sinmun using his experience of editing Tongnip Sinmun (daily newspaper in Han-gul) , exposed
Japan’s discussion of the division of the Korean Peninsula with Russia in 1902, revealing
the Japanese imperialist desire to invade the country. As a result, he was severely tortured
and became weak, and resigned from president of the Hwangseong Sinmun.
When Japan-Korea Treaty of 1905 was signed in 1905, Namgoong Eok believed that
the only way to live is to be faithful to what each person had to do in his or her own
right, and devoted all his energy to fostering patriotism and enhancing women’s rights
through the Mugunghwa (Korean National Flower) . However, because of this, he was removed
from his teaching post, and he moved down to Mogok-ri to build a chapel and started
a Sunday school. Principal Namgoong Eok started growing and distributing 70,000 Only God, who is in control of the life and the
Mugunghwa seedlings in the backyard of the school. However, Namgoong Eok’s lonely death of mankind, is the object of worship,

                                                                                                                                           Choi In-gyu Martyrdom Monument
