Jangheung Church is the second church to be established in Cheorwon after Cheorwon

sacrificed while organizing the Cheorwon Patriotic Corps to conduct anti-communist
movement immediately after liberation, and there is a monument to patriotic fighters.
There is a monument to the martyrdom of Pastor Seo Gi-hun on the left side of the church
and there is a memorial tower for cherishing the souls of patriots in the back garden.
The tower was built to apologize by descendants who took the lead in Communist activities
during the war, but they also engraved their father's and grandfather's names. The
villagers realized the fact at the unveiling ceremony and corrected the list of inscriptions by
removing only the parts with their names engraved on the tower. It was a ridiculous event
that informed us that Cold War relics could lead to historical distortion. The mother church
of Jangheung Church is Cheorwon Methodist Church. Pastor Seo Gi-hun, the pastor of
Janheung Church, was an advisor to Agency of the Korean Youth, which was a front for
anti-communist group and was martyred by the communist army at the age of 70. The
Chinese characters engraved on the side of the martyrdom monument are impressive.
‘死於當死非當死生而求生不是生’ “It's not true death to die when it's time to die. It's not true
life when asking for a life in one’s life.”

However, center was closed by exploitation of Japanese imperialism. At that time, Pastor
Park Kyung-ryong of Cheorwon Jangheung Church purchased 50,000 pyeong around the
Hantan River, which was owned by Japanese people, which resembles the topography of
Kumgangsan Prayer Center, disguised it as a military horse ranch, and built a stable and
purchased horses, but he actually planned to set up a prayer house.
Jangheung Church
To avoid Japanese persecution, many pastors gathered and prayed secretly at the place
and the place was called Joseon Prayer Center. The second director of Deahan Monastery
was Evangelist Jeonjin and he devoted himself to establish Deahan Monastery. Continually
his son, Pastor Choi Jo-young led the monastery as the third director, and now Pastor
Park Myung-hee, the wife of Pastor Choi Jo-young, is leading the monastery as the fourth
director when Pastor Choi Jo-young was called by God. The Deahan Monastery was
a monument to the martyrdom established to save the country through prayer when it was lost.
