Rema: “The custom is that women do recite a beracha” – This is the custom of the Ashkenazim, following the
ruling of Rabbeinu Tam and those who held like him... And also with regard to Sefardim, if there are places
where women have the custom of reciting the beracha, one should not rebuke them... And also because where
there is a custom, we do not apply the principal of safeik brachot lehakel, as is known.

A woman who has accepted upon herself to hear the shofar is not permitted to nullify this custom, or any other positive
custom that she has accepted upon herself, unless she performs hatarat nedarim (annulment of vows).

A woman whose custom was to hear the shofar and for some reason she will not be able to come to shul to hear
the shofar, and there is no possibility of someone coming to blow for her at her house, must perform hatarat
nedarim (annulment of vows) on Erev Rosh Hashana, since this custom consists of a mitzvah for which she gets
reward…
