was shot in a much closer lens shot causing us to
feel Claustrophobic as we were too close to his face,
this indicated that the protagonist was having a
tough time getting through to her and is now feeling
stressed. As the scene progresses the protagonist
introduces new information which puts Kat at a
vulnerable position, now the camera starts moving
towards Kat and getting closer indicating that she is
the one under
stress now and how the tables have turned.
These same close-up shots and a few quick motion
shots were utilized in the movie
Whiplash with the same intentions, sometimes
visually showcasing emotions end up being more
powerful than written dialogue, the planetarium
scene from La La Land does just that. It had little to
no dialogue and consisted of imagery and theatrical
storytelling filled with color and music making it a
phenomenal episode within the movie. Color is also
a much simpler way to visualize what or how the
characters feel. La La Land does this best by
