Incubator Lab at the University of Delaware STAR Campus
Location: Newark, Delaware
Design Statement: Bernardon provided design services for
an 11,000 SF, one-story research facility which is designed
to provide leasable lab space for start-up businesses. The
building is located on the STAR (Science, Technology and
Advanced Research) Campus at the University of Delaware,
and is comprised of 11 leasable lab spaces of 250 – 500 SF
each which can be combined or configured to meet the needs
of each tenant or business type. Common collaboration
spaces, breakroom, conference rooms, shared services room,
eight private offices and one Laser lab space are included. The
“incubator” concept is designed to provide cross collaboration
between tenants. The location of the facility is convenient for mechanical systems, and bright colors and open common
to other nearby lab support services and businesses in spaces are incorporated in the design to provide a fun and
